Full explanations of why we should be doing all these are given in this Ethical Consumer Magazine blog article.
For myself, I’ve been doing most of these things for quite a while, but I only switched to buying solid shampoo bars rather than bottles of shampoo last year, following a suggestion in Ethical Consumer Magazine. So now I don’t buy any toiletries in plastic bottles any more! (I’ve not solved the toothpaste tube problem yet though!).
And for 2019? There’s just one item on the list that I can’t already tick: boycott palm oil, so I’ll try to be more careful about checking ingredients lists and try not to buy products that contain non-sustainable palm oil.
Making it even harder to find vegan biscuits 🙁
But I prefer chocolate anyway 🙂
I use a great toothpaste from a plastic free company based in Cornwall. Also available on ethical superstore. Georganics. Tastes a bit soapy at first but you get used to it. Cleans teeth really well and my little pot has lasted nearly a year!
